Heaven Is Pure Love

This thought has been with me all week, so I decided to share it with you, dear reader:

Heaven is pure love. Even love not yet purified can offer us a taste of Heaven.

Although crippled by disease, I'm fully alive in love. I write about the terrible beauty and sacred wonder of life, while living with physical disability and severe dependency. A revert to the Catholic faith through atheism, I'm not afraid to ask life's big questions. I explore what it means to be fully human through my weekly blog and have written a book: It's Good to Be Here, published by Sophia Institute Press.

  1. Thousands upon thousands of words, in all languages have formed stories, poems, anecdotes, plays, notes, songs and even art to capture love’s essence. You’ve boiled the power of love down into two memorable sentences. Well done!

  2. I’ve tried to like this a number of times, Christina. Really I have. Just thought I’d tell you. I like this. .

In fact I especially like it because it seems like a perfect wedding anniversary card. You posted it on Mary Anne’s and my 56th anniversary. That’s right! And it fits. Even though we spent the day on the hospital recovery room after shoulder surgery on Friday.

Well, maybe not “even though.” Maybe, yes, even

day, that experience of imperfect something (I think a kind of love was there in the operating room, and then later in the hall as she was being rolled from that roomnto another and finally to where we stayed until I could drive her home, and even in the car there was a kind of unspoken love) — even all that was a little taste of heaven, though our taste buds might have been a bit numb.

Anyway, I’m giving her this “card” as a late anniversary present. Thank you for sending it, even though . . . I mean how did you know?

    Blessings everywhere!

    • Thank you for taking a moment to visit with me here, China! Within prayer, we often find the nourishment and guidance that we need, immersed in God’s love. Blessings,
