Novena for Life Day Two

“May each person suffering from participation in abortion find forgiveness, hope, and healing in Christ.” (See full details for this day’s intention and reflection.)

If we know that abortion is a terrible act of violence that kills an innocent, unborn child, then we can only imagine what this realization must be like for someone who has participated in an abortion. Women who receive abortions are not monsters. They have been lied to by a society that thinks abortions are some kind of magic erasers that make everything better.

The truth is that no abortion is safe. Somebody dies in every successful abortion. That’s the point. But healing can be found after the destruction. Redemption and renewal can begin. So let’s pray for every woman who has had an abortion, every man who has paid for and/or encouraged an abortion, and every medical worker who has assisted in or performed an abortion that they may receive the mercy and grace of God on that day when they realize what they have done. God is good. God is merciful. Let us also be merciful as we pray for healing.

An important note from the Respect Life website: “If you or someone you know is suffering from participation in abortion, confidential, compassionate help is available. Visit hopeafterabortion.org.

Although crippled by disease, I'm fully alive in love. I write about the terrible beauty and sacred wonder of life, while living with physical disability and severe dependency. A revert to the Catholic faith through atheism, I'm not afraid to ask life's big questions. I explore what it means to be fully human through my weekly blog and have written a book: It's Good to Be Here, published by Sophia Institute Press.
