Fasting, Prayer, Almsgiving
What was the purpose of this journey?
Was it to get rid of some unwanted items by giving them away or unwanted pounds by fasting? Was it to accomplish self-improvement? (I accuse myself.)
Was it to gain organization, academic knowledge, fitting in jeans, or an elated sense of self accomplishment that is pride?
What was the purpose of this journey?
Did you forget someone?
Jesus was stripped.
Jesus was ridiculed.
Jesus’s friends were scattered.
What was the purpose of this journey?
Jesus thirsts.
Do you see Him?
Jesus commended His spirit to the Father.
Do you know Him?
Jesus’s heart was pierced.
Do you love Him?
“If You, O Lord, should mark iniquities, Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with You, so that You may be revered.” (Psalm 130)
“God, be merciful to me, a sinner.”[ii]

Although crippled by disease, I'm fully alive in love. I write about the terrible beauty and sacred wonder of life, while living with physical disability and severe dependency. A revert to the Catholic faith through atheism, I'm not afraid to ask life's big questions. I explore what it means to be fully human through my weekly blog and have written a book: It's Good to Be Here, published by Sophia Institute Press.
