At Eucharistic Adoration
Hi, Jesus… (I don’t know what to say)…
We shouldn’t have You trapped in the monstrance, we should let You out into the world.…
But … You aren’t trapped, are You, You who are infinite and omnipotent.
You aren’t trapped in the monstrance, or trapped in the tabernacle. Just like You weren’t trapped in Your mother’s womb. You are willing to be confined.
You are willing to be little, willing to be hidden, willing to be ignored, neglected, and forgotten…
Mystery of mysteries…
You are willing to be confined in Your mother’s womb; willing to be confined upon the Cross; willing to be confined in the Eucharist.
No, not confined… dependent? Dependent…
You were willing to be dependent upon Your mother’s womb so that You could come among us, God in the flesh.
You were willing to be dependent upon the Cross so that You could be our Savior, to bring Salvation to us.
You are willing to be dependent upon the Eucharist so that You can be sweet communion for us and with us.
Wonder of wonders….

Although crippled by disease, I'm fully alive in love. I write about the terrible beauty and sacred wonder of life, while living with physical disability and severe dependency. A revert to the Catholic faith through atheism, I'm not afraid to ask life's big questions. I explore what it means to be fully human through my weekly blog and have written a book: It's Good to Be Here, published by Sophia Institute Press.
Last thing for today. I LOVE THIS!!! I’m thinking we could use it! After all, we are the body of Christ. Mother Teresa used to say that those who have mental illness make up the crown of Christ’s head. So why can’t those of us with disabilities be the Eurcharistic Christ? Little, hidden, trapped, dependent. I think we could develop this. I bet we might even find a quote or two from other saints.
Also, in the Reed of God, the author talked about how it’s not what we do, it’s what we let God do with us. We could develop this idea, too.
Ok, that’s all for today. Write whenever you have time. Megan

Thank you, as always, for reflecting with me, Megan! Thank you also for bringing up Christ’s being little, hidden, trapped, and dependent — yes, I know my mind was picking up on Jesus’ shared reality with people like us. I’ve also heard it said that we are meant to be Eucharist to others… but I don’t really understand what that means. Something to reflect on!
Glad that we are considering writing a book together. Hopefully, it’s exactly what God wants to do with us 🙂
