Fat and Ashes

I need some reminders. In this season of Lent, I need to be reminded how to grow in closer relationship with my Maker. One day, I will meet my Maker — a truth that will get written in ashes on my forehead this Wednesday with the words, “Remember, you are dust and unto dust you will return.” But I also need to remember that right here and right now, I live, move, and have my being in God. Sometimes, I may forget this and, when I do remember, I may forget how to simply be with Him and live the truth.

Like I said, I need some reminders. So, this Lent, I’m going to read the words that I was inspired to write down in this blog over the last many years, words that relate to the holy season of intimacy, the season when we make that extra effort to love and serve the One who loves us most — to become the people that we were created to be.

Please read with me, starting with this Lenten preview:

Although crippled by disease, I'm fully alive in love. I write about the terrible beauty and sacred wonder of life, while living with physical disability and severe dependency. A revert to the Catholic faith through atheism, I'm not afraid to ask life's big questions. I explore what it means to be fully human through my weekly blog and have written a book: It's Good to Be Here, published by Sophia Institute Press.
