TV Update
It’s coming!
An EWTN crew flew up from Alabama to film me as I was interviewed by Paula Umana for a new series, Gifts of Hope. After a year of waiting, all the other interviews and the editing have been completed, and the series will begin!
On Monday, April 28, at 5:30 PM on EWTN, Gifts of Hope will premiere!
[Correction: my interview will air Wednesday, April 30!!!] Will the first episode feature me? I don’t know… better tune in anyway just to find out! And now, yes, I do feel like one of those shameless self-promoters trying to find a catchy, winning phrase to convince you that my interview will be worth watching — “Don’t miss out!”
Heavy sigh.
But I don’t know if my interview will be worth watching. I know that I am going to have a very difficult time watching myself on the screen, so difficult that I might not tune in to the interview at all. I’m not being falsely modest when I say that it was not my best interview. If it turns out well, all of the credit will go to Paula, Robert, and Eric, who I’m sure, in turn, would give all the credit to the Holy Spirit. Although I may or may not watch my own interview, I will be watching the interviews of other people who are living with physical limitations and sufferings while also living with the gifts of faith, hope, and love — which is ultimately joy.
So, if you want to hear any kind of words of inspiration or wisdom from me, such as they may be, keep reading my blog. If you want to see other people witness to the sacred dignity of life, watch Gifts of Hope.
And that I can say most sincerely.
Here’s the trailer to preview:
Yup! That’s me with my parents and the producer, Robert. There’s also a glimpse of my cat in the preview — she might make my interview worth watching. 🙂
If you miss any of the episodes, which will air on EWTN each weekday April 28-May 2, at 5:30 PM, each of the episodes will also be added to the EWTN YouTube Channel in the middle of May. If you don’t have EWTN in your TV package, download the EWTN app on Apple or Google play on your tablet or smartphone.
I’m really hoping they don’t include the part where I sing. Then again, I always do appreciate humor, and my singing was laughably terrible!

Although crippled by disease, I'm fully alive in love. I write about the terrible beauty and sacred wonder of life, while living with physical disability and severe dependency. A revert to the Catholic faith through atheism, I'm not afraid to ask life's big questions. I explore what it means to be fully human through my weekly blog and have written a book: It's Good to Be Here, published by Sophia Institute Press.
Very exciting! Glad it’s finally going to be airing! Yay God!!

Good evening Christina, It was good to see your parents as well as you in the trailer. I’ll look forward to watching on YouTube. If I try to watch at the appointed time it will be too late for me to concentrate. May Easter continue to enliven you, love and all blessings! Maurice.

I think that you are right and that our suffering is extremely valuable to God for the salvation of souls, ours and others. I think that as the body of Christ, we get closer to Jesus in this way.
